2048 GB = 2 TB (1 TB = 1,024 GB (binary convention))

Formula: 2048 GB ÷ 1024 = 2 TB

How the gb to tb converter conversion works

The converter applies TB = GB ÷ 1024. Going the other way, GB = TB × 1024. This is the binary convention used by most converters and operating systems; drive manufacturers usually quote decimal terabytes (1 TB = 1,000 GB), which is why a sold-as-1-TB drive shows about 931 GB on your computer.

Worked example: a 2048 GB backup is 2048 ÷ 1024 = 2 TB, and a 500 GB drive holds 500 ÷ 1024 = 0.4883 TB.
