UrbiTools builds free online calculators for UK employment pay: redundancy pay, paternity pay and notice pay (payment in lieu of notice). Each tool implements the actual statutory formulas with current rates — not rough guesses.
Why we exist
The moments these calculators matter — redundancy, a new baby, a sudden exit — are stressful enough without doing statutory maths by hand or trusting a stale blog post with last year's rates. We keep the rates current, show the working, and explain the tax position in plain English.
How we keep the rates accurate
Statutory figures — the redundancy pay cap, statutory paternity pay, the lower earnings limit and the termination-payment tax allowance — change each April. Our editorial team checks them against GOV.UK guidance, links to the official source on every guide and calculator, and shows the date each page was last updated. If you spot a figure that looks out of date, please tell us and we'll review it.
What we are not
We are not a law firm or a regulated adviser. The calculators give estimates for guidance — see our disclaimer — and for binding figures you should speak to Acas, your employer's HR team or an employment adviser.
Private by design
Every calculation happens in your browser. We don't ask for accounts, we don't store your salary figures, and nothing you type leaves your device.
Use our calculators in AI assistants
The three calculators are also available as a free Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so assistants such as Claude can run the same statutory calculations directly. It runs on your own computer, so your figures stay private there too. Install it from npm as urbitools-mcp, or add it to an MCP client configuration with the command npx -y urbitools-mcp.
How we're funded
The site is free and supported by advertising. That keeps the calculators free for everyone — it never affects the maths.
