Fahrenheit to Kelvin Converter

Convert fahrenheit to kelvin and back — K = (F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15. Absolute zero is −459.67 °F = 0 K. Free, instant, no sign-up, full working shown.

Convert fahrenheit ⇄ kelvin

298.15 K
77 °F = 298.15 K (32 °F = 273.15 K)

Formula: (77 °F − 32) × 5/9 + KELVIN_OFFSET = 298.15 K

How the fahrenheit to kelvin converter conversion works

The converter applies K = (F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15. Subtract 32 to remove Fahrenheit's offset, multiply by 5/9 to reach the Celsius scale, then add 273.15 to reach kelvin. Going the other way, F = (K − 273.15) × 9/5 + 32.

Worked example: room temperature of 77 °F is (77 − 32) × 5/9 = 25 °C, so 25 + 273.15 = 298.15 K. Body temperature of 98.6 °F is 37 °C = 310.15 K, water freezes at 32 °F = 273.15 K and boils at 212 °F = 373.15 K.

fahrenheit to kelvin converter questions

What is the fahrenheit to kelvin formula?
First convert to Celsius, then add the kelvin offset: K = (F − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15. Going back, F = (K − 273.15) × 9/5 + 32.
What is 32 fahrenheit in kelvin?
(32 − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15 = 273.15 K — the freezing point of water.
What is 212 fahrenheit in kelvin?
(212 − 32) × 5/9 + 273.15 = 373.15 K — the boiling point of water at sea level.
What is absolute zero in fahrenheit?
Absolute zero is 0 K = −459.67 °F. Nothing can be colder; the calculator blocks any value below it.
What temperature is the same in fahrenheit and celsius?
−40: −40 °F = −40 °C = 233.15 K — the one point where the two scales meet.
