Convert grams ⇄ cups
Formula: 100 g ÷ 200 g/cup = 0.5 cups
How the grams to cups conversion works
The converter applies cups = grams ÷ grams-per-cup. A US cup is 236.588 ml, so an ingredient's grams-per-cup is its density times 236.588 — water lands exactly on 236.588 g. Going the other way, grams = cups × grams-per-cup.
Worked example: a recipe calling for 250 g of all-purpose flour needs 250 ÷ 120 ≈ 2.08 cups. The same 250 g of granulated sugar is 250 ÷ 200 = 1.25 cups — same weight, noticeably less volume, because sugar packs denser than flour.
Treat every preset as typical, not exact: a scooped cup of flour can weigh 150 g while a spooned-and-levelled cup weighs 120 g. When a bake has to be right, weigh with a scale — and check the packet, which sometimes prints its own cup weight.
