Convert °F ⇄ °C

176.6667 °C
350 °F = 176.6667 °C (Fahrenheit to Celsius)

Formula: (350 °F − 32) × 5/9 = 176.6667 °C

How the Fahrenheit to Celsius conversion works

The scales are offset as well as stretched: water freezes at 32 °F but 0 °C. So the formula first removes the offset, then rescales: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. Going the other way, °F = °C × 9/5 + 32.

Worked example: a warm 72 °F day is (72 − 32) × 5/9 = 22.22 °C. A 400 °F oven is (400 − 32) × 5/9 ≈ 204.44 °C — about 200 °C, or Gas Mark 6, on a British dial.

Two anchor points make estimates easy: 32 °F = 0 °C (freezing) and 212 °F = 100 °C (boiling). Room temperature, 68–72 °F, is 20–22 °C.

Fahrenheit to Celsius questions

How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius?
Subtract 32, then multiply by 5/9: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. Type any temperature above — negative values work too.
What is 350 °F in Celsius?
176.67 °C ((350 − 32) × 5/9) — roughly 177 °C, or Gas Mark 4. It is the most common baking temperature in American recipes.
Where do Fahrenheit and Celsius meet?
At −40: −40 °F is exactly −40 °C. It is the only point where the two scales give the same number — try it above.
What is normal body temperature in Fahrenheit?
98.6 °F, which is 37 °C. A fever is generally 100.4 °F (38 °C) or higher.
Can I convert Celsius back to Fahrenheit?
Yes — switch the direction above to “Celsius → Fahrenheit”. The reverse formula is °F = °C × 9/5 + 32, so 20 °C is 68 °F.
