How the pints to cups conversion works

A US liquid pint is defined as exactly 2 US cups (473.176 ml), so the conversion is a single multiplication: cups = pints × 2. Going the other way, pints = cups ÷ 2.

Worked example: 1.5 pints of cream is 1.5 × 2 = 3 cups. Five cups of berries is 5 ÷ 2 = 2.5 pints.
