milk grams to ml Converter

Convert milk grams to ml and back at milk's density of 1.03 g/ml — close to water, but not quite — with one tap. Everything runs instantly in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Convert milk grams ⇄ millilitres

Grams ≠ ml without density — a gram of milk takes up a different volume than a gram of water.
Presets
97.0874 ml
100 g = 97.0874 ml (at density 1.03 g/ml)

Formula: 100 g ÷ 1.03 g/ml = 97.0874 ml

Cooking only: this converter is for food ingredients. Never use it for medicine; liquid medicines need the concentration on the label, not density.

How the milk conversion works

The converter applies ml = grams ÷ density, with milk's density at a typical 1.03 g/ml. Water is 1.0 g/ml, so milk is only about 3% heavier per millilitre — close enough that many recipes treat them as equal, but not exact.

Worked example: a recipe calling for 250 g of milk needs 250 ÷ 1.03 ≈ 242.7 ml. A full US cup of milk (236.588 ml) weighs 236.588 × 1.03 ≈ 243.7 g — about 244 g on the scale.

Treat 1.03 g/ml as typical, not exact: whole, semi-skimmed and skimmed milk differ slightly, and density shifts a little with temperature. For baking, weigh with a scale when it matters.

Quick reference

  • 244 g milk — 236.9 ml (≈1 US cup)
  • 250 g milk — 242.7 ml
  • 500 g milk — 485.4 ml

milk questions

How many ml is 100 g of milk?
About 97.1 ml (100 ÷ 1.03). Milk is slightly denser than water, so 100 g of it takes up slightly less than 100 ml.
How do I convert milk grams to ml?
Divide grams by milk's density: ml = grams ÷ 1.03. Type any weight above to see it — or switch direction to go from ml back to grams.
Is 100 g of milk the same as 100 ml?
Almost, but not exactly: 100 g of milk is about 97.1 ml. The 3% gap rarely matters in cooking, but it matters when a recipe is scaled up or a bake is sensitive to liquid.
How many grams is a cup of milk?
About 244 g: one US cup is 236.588 ml, and 236.588 × 1.03 ≈ 243.7 g. Whole milk is a touch heavier than skimmed.
Can I convert ml of milk back to grams?
Yes — switch the direction above. Grams = ml × 1.03, so 500 ml of milk is 500 × 1.03 = 515 g.
