Convert sugar grams ⇄ cups
Formula: 100 g ÷ 200 g/cup = 0.5 cups
How the sugar conversion works
The converter applies cups = grams ÷ grams-per-cup. A US cup is 236.588 ml, so a cup of granulated sugar at a typical weight lands on 200 g — finer or coarser sugars pack differently, which is why this page has a preset per type.
Worked example: a recipe calling for 150 g of granulated sugar needs 150 ÷ 200 = 0.75 cups. The same 150 g of powdered sugar is 150 ÷ 120 = 1.25 cups — same weight, far more volume, because powdered sugar is mostly air.
Treat every preset as typical, not exact: brown sugar's weight depends on how firmly it is packed, and powdered sugar settles in the bag. When a bake has to be right, weigh with a scale — and check the packet, which sometimes prints its own cup weight.
